8.00 hours per month from 0 - 3 years of service
10.67 hours per month from 4 - 10 years of service
12.00 hours per month from 11 - 15 years of service
14.00 hours per month over 15 years of service
Regular full-time employees also receive and additional eight hours of vacation leave each year on their birthday. In order to qualify for the birthday leave benefit an employee must work or be on paid leave on the day preceding and following their birthday. Vacation leave benefits are prorated for regular part-time employees based on the number of hours they are assigned to work.
Otherwise eligible employees must complete a six month introductory period before they may use vacation leave. Employees who do not complete the introductory period will not be compensated for any unused vacation leave upon separation. A maximum of 168 hours may be carried over from one year to the next or cashed out upon separation from employment.
SICK LEAVE
Regular full-time employees earn 8.33 hours of sick leave per month. Sick leave benefits are prorated for regular part-time employees based on the number of hours they are assigned to work. Sick leave may be used as soon as it is earned. There is no limit on the amount of sick leave which an employee may carry over from one year to the next. Employees receive 25% of their regular hourly rate for any unused sick leave in excess of 480 hours at separation.
Sick leave may be generally used for any illness, disability or other health related issues which necessitate the employee's absence from work. Sick leave may also be used to care for family members under certain conditions.
DEATH IN FAMILY LEAVE
The county allows up to three days of paid leave for employees to attend to matters associated with a death in their immediate family. If significant travel is required the employee may also use two additional days from accumulated sick leave for this purpose if needed.
CIVIL LEAVE
Employees will be compensated at their regular rate of pay for the hours which they would have regularly been scheduled to work when they are required by the court to serve on jury duty or appear as a witness in matters not connected with or arising out of their employment with Bonneville County.
MILITARY LEAVE
In order that members of the National Guard or Active Military Reserves may not be economically disadvantaged by serving in those capacities, the county will upon proper application compensate eligible employees for any difference between their regular county pay and their military pay while serving on active duty for up to 15 calendar days each year. Employees must provide a copy of their military orders and military pay information necessary to calculate this benefit and must return to work immediately following their return from active duty.
FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE
Employees who have been continuously employed with the County for 12 months or more and worked a minimum of 1,250 hours in the preceding 12 months are entitled to a maximum of 12 weeks of unpaid leave in addition to any paid leave to which they are entitled for the following reasons: a serious health condition which prevents the employee from performing their regularly assigned duties; a serious health condition of a member of the employee's immediate family which requires their absence from work; or the birth, adoption or placement of a child in the employees home for foster care. Medical and Family Leave must be requested in writing and employees may be required to document the reasons for the request.
